Holy Shakeology Balls!!!!

Ha,ha, what in the world are Shakeology Balls? First have you even heard of Shakeology? If you haven't then you must flip over to my website: www.myshakeology.com/fitdoctorkari

There  you will find the information you need to decide if you want to buy this wonderful ingredient of Shakeology Balls.  I came to know Shakeology Balls when I bought the PUSH by Chalene Johnsone.  In the back was this recipe that she claims was the incredibly satisfying snack and at that moment I was hooked.  I saw: PB2 , hmmmm what is that?; and then I saw Shakeology which I had actually already been using as my snack.

PB2 is this wonderful powdered peanut butter powder that tastes great in recipes. If you love peanut butter like I do (I can't keep a jar in my house) then you will truly benefit from this powder.

Okay, back to Shakeology.  I was told by a friend that Shakeology was this great meal replacement or snack.  Well first of all, I thought I don't do well with meal replacements because I am usually hungry within minutes and then I overeat.  The other thing was, if its a snack how can it be filling enough to be a meal? When I tried it and added 1 1/2 cups of skim milk, mixed fruit, a tblsp of peanut butter, shakeology blended that and then added a cup of ice - VOILA!!  It was very very filling and no I was not hungry afterward.  Now if I want a simple snack then I'll just do the skim and shakeology powder.  So when I read that she has people, who are so very health conscious, coming over to eat her Shakeology Balls, well I thought hey I need to make these and see.  OMGosh!  After sitting in the freezer they are soooooooo good!  I can eat 2 Balls and it is a great snack.

So Here is the recipe:
Shakeology Balls
Makes 12 ping pong size balls
Mix:
1 cup PB2 or Chocolate PB2 powdered peanut butter
1/2 cup natural peanut butter
1 cup quick oats
1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
1 scoop Shakeology protein pwder
Add to taste: sweetener of choice ( I use Splenda blend)

Wet your hands and form balls and then place on wax paper. put them on a plate in the freezer or eat right away! "Better than a protein bar, easier than a bag of processed junk, and healthier than most salads"  Oh and let me add they are great for that fiber we all need in our diets!

So if you don't know where to get the Shakeology go to my website: www.myshakeology/fitdoctorkari

I'm sharing this because I understand this is one of the hardest things to overcome - the Snack Attack! I have so much to share with the new year!  I'm just fired up on getting my health on track!

The Dreaded New Year's Resolution

I hate this time of year.  I know, I know, "Here's to Your Health".  The reason I don't like this time of year is because I see so many people get all excited about all the changes they want to make to themselves and well maybe others.  The problem is they just don't have it figured out!

The person that is 100 pounds overweight wants to lose the weight so they proclaim they are getting in shape.  Problem is they think some cure or key to accomplishing this feat will hit them over the head.  NO!!!  N! O!  See you have to figure out in sort of a backwards way how or what steps will actually get you to the weight minus the 100.  RESEARCH!!  Yes, sit down and think what inspires you to get up and move.  What are your downfalls when it comes to food.  All of lus ike to eat, but some of us for some reason just can't walk by the chocolate fountain or the doughnuts on the office break room table.  We feel like we have to eat it or we have really messed up and denied ourselves something we just really need!

Find out what exercise and really don't even think of it as EXERCISE, but rather activity.  Yea, activity sounds better. No one has to know that you are actually trying to shave off some weight but rather you enjoy walking around and looking at the trees and winter colors on your break. I say that because we all feel a little pressured when we make it known to others that we are trying to loose weight.  Instantly it seems like the saboteurs are lurking.

The food thing.  I love food!  I love chips and salsa!  I love the refried beans!  I love, I love, I love, but here's what I have learned.  Food is food! I eat it and masticate and swallow and then whats left leaves in the form of human waste.  Big DEAL! Don't LIVE to EAT, EAT to LIVE! Hear that before? Well that's what it means.  Don't eat food because you just want to eat the fudge and not miss out, rather eat that fudge because your body nutritionally needs it.  We all know we don't need those carbs and fat in fudge to survive so you wouldn't eat that really.

Change your life so you are so wrapped up in YOU that you don't care about food as much.  Here is what also works for me, if I manage my time so I can workout for 45 minutes and I really enjoy it or that 4 mile run , why why in the heck would I turn right around and eat those 400-500 calories.  Why did I even bother running or working out? "BUT I"M SOOO HUNGRY!" Okay, then have things in your pantry you know you can eat safely.  No more cookies sitting at eye level, or peanut butter snickers...... but get used to eating baby carrots or have a Shakeology shake.  I am a tuna fish eater. I eat the tuna in spring water straight! Yep! You can also take the Miracle Whip light and a tsp of the relish and mix in and eat on , count them, 5 crackers.  I also eat about 5 peanuts or a very small hand full.  The protein is the key! You have to mix protein which I might add, tuna and nuts are high in, with what you eat in carbs.
I mentioned Shakeology, I love Shakeology. It is very high quality natural mix of natural ingredients that naturally give you extra energy, gut motility (not diarrhea), protein, probiotics and prebiotics.  The powder is really thick so I have to use a blender to make sure it mixes. I had a friend who was using it and so I took one of the packets she had and was very impressed.  There aren't many regulations out that protect the consumer when it comes to vitamins and protein shakes so I was skeptical.  But when I saw the research and what the ingredients did I decided this wasn't your SlimFast shake.  I can actually use this in place of a meal and not starve. So If you are interested then you need to message me!

So try this: Think of the activity you really like
Get rid of or move those dangerous foods you know you shouldn't eat and STOP buying the if     you can.
Figure out what you like and would eat that is high in Protein, low in sugars, fat, carbs.  Eat like a diabetic.  Now obviously if you aren't diabetic then you need to be careful about the restrictions but think like a diabetic does.  Vegetables and Fruits are not freebies.  A diabetic can eat a small potatoe not a large loaded one, a small bowl of strawberries not a whole container.

I don't make resolutions I make goals! My goal is to succeed in my business and also I'd love to help other people learn how to stay fit and healthy.  I've managed for a long time to be active and fairly slim.  I'm not skinny and don't care about that because skinny isn't necessarily healthy.  I plan on being more consistent in my workouts.  But when I say that I've already come up with a plan that will lead to that goal.  I don't just expect the solution to drop out of the sky - I have a plan! Come up with your plan by working backwards from the goal.  Decide what steps you need to overcome to reach it.  That is true in job, family, health, etc....

Follow me on Facebook: Fit Doctor Kari
We are having a Super Saturday meeting in West Monroe, LA. If you are interested in having a goal this is the place.  Its Jan. 7, at 10AM so message me and we can point you in the direction.  This is a rally to get people on their way to a happier living and fit!  WE will make some snacks that are low fat usiing that Shakeology and shakes too.  Its such a great product that i have to share.

Round and Round

Yesterday at the advice of a coworker, I drove to the park in a small town I was temporarily working in.  OH NO!  Its nothing more than a concrete path that is a little over 1/2 a mile running around the ball park!  I could feel the dread coming over me and all motivation out the window.  I did however begin the dreaded run.  Why do I dread the round and round ?

When I was a freshman in college I went to the track to see a girl who was rather overweight running around the track.  I thought, "I'm not overweight so I can do that".  Uh no, I was mistaken.  After about 2 laps I was out.  So being the determined person I am, I decided I would take up running.  My running began at, you guessed it: the track.  Round and round I ran every night.  My drive was I was getting stronger and was tacking on more and more miles until I was up to 5 and then 7 miles.  I started to branch out into the neighborhoods because..... the round and round was boring!  Now I hate, HATE, the track!

So back to the present.  I was trying to motivate myself to do this and decided it would be a speed workout. Yes, a speedworkout is exactly what I needed.  My running base was getting stronger and faster.  Speedworkouts are exactly what makes you stronger and gets your body used to moving faster instead of staying in a rut.  I finished a rather short time of speedworkouts but man oh man, I was moving faster than I had in years.  It felt good.  It really opened my eyes to possiblities to better times.

We all have days where we just DO NOT want to run or lift weights, whatever your exercise is you just have those days.  This is a turning point for you.  Are you committed or just a weekend warrior?  If you are committed you will get out there and do it and then smile afterwards.  For those of us who have been working out in some fashion for a long time have learned the scorned feeling when we don't exercise.  Its just not worth it.  After you feel that failure you won't be as likely to forgo your workout.

What motivates you is key to these moments.  For me its envisioning the cool air, new shoes, new music, new headphones, or conquoring the hills.  I'll even find a new route, which my favorite kind of route is a back country road that is dirt and shade.  You will find out what gets you out the door and use it as your weapon against the demon.  Don't be discouraged when you can't get motivated because it does get better.

Now I don't just run.  I do P90X, Insanity, Turbo Fire, and any other kick boxing, kick-my-butt workouts.  Throwing those into the mix definitely helps me keep moving.  So when I say new gear this another form of gear.  You have to keep it fresh!  Plus these workouts use different body parts than running and quite frankly you can't replace one for the other.  So I usually alternate.  I have been running for about 30 years.  HA!  Oh my gosh! 30! Well anyway, I also have been doing these workouts for about 2 years.  I love them! I feel so bad to the bone when I finish!  Actually my body is pretty svelte when I do.

Hey I'm 48 and still moving pretty good.  I figure I'm not a good target for a mugging and if someone were to try to mug me they better run fast and be able to dodge my right hook!  Ha,ha.

This is my first blog.  I love being fit and wish I had started this sooner.  If you need a daily dose of something fitness and real this is your stop.  WE are all in this together .  Its not easy staying fit in this society of laziness and convenience.  Our bodies are made to do work.  So we have to work our bodies hard or we get soft.  Talk to you again!

Merry Christmas!!  Don't worry about buying material presents. Save your money or pay those bills off and spend the holidays enjoying your family! That's a present you can't buy!
